History[edit]

Formation (2018-2019)[edit]

It Comes in Waves was formed in late 2018 out of the ashes of the STL post-hardcore scene by Rob Grounds as an evolution of his solo music efforts. Embracing their defiant brand of post-hardcore infused pop-rock, the band has gained a loyal following of fans who listen to bands such as Pierce the Veil, Of Mice and Men, I See Stars and Sleeping with Sirens. Before establishing the bands final line-up, members of the band were each involved in solo projects of their own ranging from country music[2] to heavy metal music.

Danger and Record deal (2019)[edit]

In February of 2019 the band independently released their first single, "Danger", accompanied with a music video directed by RedBlack Films.[3] The band played alongside Asking Alexandria, Blessthefall, and Escape the Fate in support of the release. Following this release, It Comes in Waves went on to win the award for “best song” during the Rock-U-Fest event of 2019 held in St. Louis, Missouri.

After a taste of success with the release of Danger, the band begin seeing interest from potential management and labels, deciding in June of the same year to sign with Standby Records [4]

In late November of 2019, It Comes in Waves parted ways with Standby Records after a brief time together, and released the title track and second single off their upcoming EP 'Wolf in Disguise' featuring Kellin Quinn of Sleeping with Sirens.[5]

Musical style and lyrics[edit]

It Comes in Waves has been categorized as Alt-Leaning Alternative Rock and Metalcore, with a deep driving guitar line coupled with a nasty breakdown to cap things off.

The lyrical content of the band's music is inspired mainly by vocalist Rob Grounds' personal experiences and views. To date, Rob Grounds has been credited as primary lyricist and writer.
