Itch is a 2021 Maltese short horror film written and directed by Susannah Farrugia. It stars Loren O’Dair as Sister Jude and Alexandra Dowling as Sister Agatha. Shenagh Govan and Christopher Saul also appear in supporting roles.[1]

The film premiered at Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas[2] and FrightFest in Leicester Square, London.[3] The film was nominated for a Méliès d’argent award at Abertoir Film Festival.[4]

Plot

A psychological horror about a novice nun who develops a severe skin condition which continues to worsen along with her mental state as she struggles with her feelings for another nun.[5]

Release

Itch premiered at FrightFest in August 2021[6] to positive reviews.[3][7] It has also screened at Fantastic Fest,[2] Cambridge Film Festival,[8] and Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival in the “They’re the Future” section.[9] The film was nominated for a Méliès d’argent award at Abertoir Film Festival in 2022.[4]
