JP Gates is an American college baseball left-handed pitcher and first baseman for the Miami Hurricanes.[1][2]

High school[edit]

Gates was a four-year starter at Nature's Coast High School.[3] He was rated as a top-60 prospect in the country and the number 1 left-handed pitcher in Florida by Perfect Game.[4]

College[edit]

Gates committed to the University of Miami.[5] After not being drafted out of high school, he chose to honor his commitment to Miami.[6][7] Through his first nine pitching appearances in 2019, he posted a 5.40 ERA. As a hitter, he has had 3 at bats, going 2-for-3 with a double and a single.
