Jack Talstra (born Jacob Talstra, March 10, 1946) is the former mayor of Terrace, British Columbia. He held that position from December 1985 until his loss to Dave Pernarowski in November 2008.[1] Born in the Netherlands, Talstra's family first lived in Houston and then Telkwa before moving to Terrace when he was in Grade Two. After attending law school at the University of British Columbia, Talstra returned to Terrace where he married Hilda. They have five children and eight grandchildren. Talstra served six years as a city councillor and 23 years as mayor. He works at his firm, the Talstra Law Corporation. He received the Order of Terrace in 2009 for his contributions to the local community.[2]
