Jackson Paul Cluff (born December 3, 1996) is an American professional baseball infielder in the New York Mets organization.
Amateur career
Cluff attended and played baseball for Brigham Young University, but he took time away from the sport on a two-year mission to Atlanta. After returning for his 2019 collegiate season, Cluff was drafted in the sixth round by the Nationals and turned pro.[1]
Professional career
Washington Nationals
Cluff made his professional debut with the Class-A Hagerstown Suns, hitting .229 with five home runs, five triples, and eight doubles over 62 games in 2019.[2]
Although the 2020 minor league season was canceled, Cluff was named to the Nationals' 60-man "player pool", working out with other top prospects and some major league players in Fredericksburg, Virginia. He was not called up to the major leagues during the 2020 season.[3]
The Nationals invited Cluff to participate again with major league players in 2021 spring training.[4] He was reassigned to the minors and began the season with the Class-AA Harrisburg Senators, two steps up from where he finished out the 2019 season.[5] Cluff participated in the Arizona Fall League and was named the league's Defensive Player of the Year for his work as the regular starting shortstop with the Surprise Saguaros.[6]
He elected free agency on November 6, 2025.[7]
New York Mets
On November 13, 2025, Cluff signed a minor league contract with the New York Mets.[8]
Cluff is noted as a nimble player with a quick left-handed swing and the arm and footwork to handle any infield spot defensively. As of the start of the 2021 season, he has spent the majority of his time as a professional as a shortstop.[4]
