Jackson David Groves known as "Jackson Groves" is an Australian photographer, blogger and travel writer, based in Adelaide, Australia. Jackson Groves is the man behind one of the most adventurous and creative travel blogs on the Internet. The Journey Era blog, in combination with the South Australian’s social media channels, inspires travelers to take raw, unguided adventures all over the world in destinations such as Indonesia, Philippines and Thailand.[1]

He spent the past five years traveling the world. He shares his adventures with a large social media following and on his travel blog, one of the largest in the world. His hiking guides and travel itineraries have been read by millions on his travel blog Journey Era. Having studied journalism, Jackson loves writing, and his stories are often about people with an inspirational mission or cause.

Early life

Jackson grew up in Adelaide, South Australia. He attended Nailsworth Primary School and then Adelaide High School. Jackson played soccer for Adelaide United Youth Team in the Hyundai A-league Youth League in Australia while studying at The University of Adelaide for one year in a Commerce degree and then in the next year at the University of South Australia studying Human Movement. He traveled to the United States on a soccer scholarship to play for Oregon State University where he studied a Bachelor of Digital Communications for two years before transferring to Hawaii Pacific University on a soccer scholarship to complete his studies, where he graduated with a degree in Journalism.[2] Since then he has been traveling nonstop as a professional blogger, photographer, and travel writer. He was 24 years old when he moved to Hawaii to work remotely.[3]

Career

In his spare time, he started the Adventure Bag, a clean-up movement to encourage grassroots environmental advocacy, and partnered with charities to build schools in developing nations such as his 'Project Lombok'.[4][5][6][7]

Jackson Groves has been travelling non-stop for four years, documenting the best of all the places he’s travelled around the globe.[8]

Jackson has written many articles on traveling and hiking on blogs such as Madeira’s ultimate hiking guide.[9]
