Jacob Bayer II is an American football center for the Arkansas State Red Wolves. He previously played for the Lamar Cardinals.[1]
Early life and high school
Bayer is from Grandview, Texas where he played high school football for the Grandview Zebras. He helped the Zebras win back-to-back state championships in 2018 and 2019.[1][2]
College career
After high school, Bayer was highly recruited and accepted a football scholarship to Lamar University where he played for two years prior to transferring to Arkansas State University in 2023.[3]
During the 2023 season with Arkansas State, Bayer helped the Red Wolves reach the 2023 Camellia Bowl, where they lost 22-19 to the Northern Illinois Huskies.
According to PFF.com, Bayer is the number two-rated center in FBS Football in 2023, which gives him an "A" grade by Pro Football Focus as one of the best centers in the nation.[4] Also during the 2023 season, he was placed on the All-Sun Belt team.
