Jacob Zelonky (born October 10, 1998) is an American actor, singer, and dancer. He is known for his work onstage in Broadway's Billy Elliot the Musical 2nd National Tour, as well as his commercial, television, and film work.[1] He is set to appear in the Los Angeles premiere of Steven Levenson’s If I Forget.[2]
Career[edit]
Zelonky was born on the first season finale of TLC’s A Baby Story. Zelonky started performing professionally as a child at Playhouse on the Square in Memphis, Tennessee and won an Allie Award for his performance in A Christmas Carol in Desoto County, Mississippi.[3][4] After a year-long audition process in which he was put through a dancing boot camp, Zelonky made his Broadway national tour debut in Billy Elliot the Musical, for which he received critical acclaim.[5][6][7] His first performance in the show was on October 30, 2010, and he performed his final show on July 1, 2012.[8] He went on to perform in multiple television and film projects. Zelonky graduated from Van Nuys High School in Van Nuys, California and later studied improv at the Upright Citizens Brigade, and acting at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art in London, England.[9][10]
Personal life[edit]
Zelonky was born in Stevenson Ranch, California and grew up in Memphis, Tennessee.[11] His parents are Barb Gelb and Robb Zelonky.[12] He is the youngest of five children, with two siblings and two step-siblings. Zelonky is a social justice activist and lobbied for congresswoman Dianne Feinstein for mental health in education.[13] Washington, D.C. Zelonky currently resides in Burbank, California. He is Jewish.[14][15]
