Jacqueline Horvat is a Canadian lawyer who was elected to serve as Treasurer of the Law Society of Ontario from June 2022 until June 2023 on June 15, 2022.[1] Treasurers generally serve two terms.[2] This is the first time in the History of the LSO that two women have served as treasurer consecutively.[3]
Horvat was born in Windsor, Ontario and was called to the bar in 2002.[4] She received her L.L.B. from the University of Windsor Law School in 2001.[5] She still lives in Windsor. [6]
Horvat was first elected a bencher of the LSO in 2011.[7] She has served as Chair of the Technology Task Force, Treasurer’s Women in Law Advisory Group, Proceedings Authorization Committee, Strategies Programs Opportunities Tactics Task Force, Mentoring and Advisory Services Proposal Task Force, Litigation Committee, Interjurisdictional Mobility Committee, and Professional Regulation Committee; and Vice-Chair of the Strategic Planning and Advisory Committee, Professional Regulation Committee, Professional Development and Competence Committee, and the Priority Planning Committee. She has also served on numerous other Law Society committees, task forces and working groups.[8]
Horvat worked with Harvey Strosberg, a former treasurer of the Law Society of Ontario.[9] She is a founding parter of Spark LLP.[10]
