Jaafar bin Muhammad bin Abdullah Al-Rubai Al-Naqdi (17 April 1886 – 20 October 1950) (14 Rajab 1303 – 9 Muharram 1370) was an Iraqi Shiite cleric, writer, poet, judge and author from Maysan. His full name is Jaafar bin Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Muhammad Taqi bin Al-Hassan bin Al-Hussein bin Ali Al-Taqi Al-Rubai.[1][circular reference]

He was born and raised in the city of Al-Amarah - the center of Maysan Governorate - then his father sent him to study in the Najaf estate. He spent many years studying there and studied in the principles of Muhammad Kazim al-Khorasani, and in jurisprudence with Muhammad Kazim al-Tabatabai al-Yazdi.

A delegation from his town came to him at a later time, specifically in the year 1332 AH - the year of his father's death - a delegation from the people of his town inviting him to come and live with them and practice his religious functions there. He accepted the invitation when his professors from among the

clergy compelled him to do so. He played a wide religious role in it and founded a mosque that still exists on his name. During the era of the British Mandate over Iraq, the government assigned him to observe legal cases, and he assumed the mission of the Sharia judiciary for many years.

The government nominated him for the Sharia judiciary, and he refused at first, but later accepted in the year 1337 AH after obligating the country’s senior clerics and notables and their decision not to accept anyone else. He continued in the judiciary until the year 1343 AH, and was transferred to Baghdad and then to the membership of the Jaafari Sharia Court.
