Khazal Al-Majidi (Arabic: خزعل الماجدي ) is a researcher from Iraq. He was born in Kirkuk in 1951. He specializes in the science and history of ancient civilizations and religions - including prehistoric, Paleolithic, and Bronze and Iron Age religions, and religions of the ancient Near East. He is, in addition, a poet and playwright.[1]

Education[edit]

He completed his studies in Baghdad and obtained a doctorate in ancient history from the Institute of Arab History for Higher Studies in Baghdad in 1996. He also obtained a second doctorate in the philosophy of religions in 2009.[2]

Jobs[edit]

He worked in the Iraqi Ministry of Culture / Cinema and Theater Department until 1998, and between 1973 and 1996 he worked in Iraqi radio and television, magazines and newspapers, the Union of Writers  and the Department of Cinema and Theater. Then a university professor at the University of Derna in Libya for the period from 1998 to 2003, a teacher of ancient history and art history. And between 1996 and 1998 he worked in Jordan and published his first intellectual books.

He returned to Iraq in August 2003 and worked as Director of the Iraqi Center for the Dialogue of Civilizations and Religions in Iraq. And between 2007 and 2014 he lectured at the University of Leiden and worked in a number of open universities in the Netherlands and Europe, teaching the history of ancient civilizations and religions. He is also a member of the Union of Writers in Iraq, the Union of Arab Writers, the Union of Iraqi Theatricalists, the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate, the Union of Arab Historians, and a member of the International Academy of east–west in Romania. He is a playwright, in addition to being the author of more than fifty books on mythology, ancient history, ancient religions, poetry, theater, the history of religions, and the science and history of civilizations.
