Jagdish Chandra Natali
Jagdish Chandra Natali (born Rander, India 18 December 1936)[1] MNZM, JP [2] is a New Zealand community activist and leader in the New Zealand Indian community.
Early life and career[edit]
Natali was educated at DAV College,[3][not in citation given] Suva, Suva, Fiji (1955–1958) and, after he arrived in Auckland in 1959, at St Peter's College, Grafton (for the 1959 year). He was employed by the New Zealand Post Office and Telecom New Zealand 1961–1990, retiring as Human Resource manager.[1]
Community[edit]
He was Secretary (1962–1968) and President (1976–1980) of the Auckland Indian Association of which he was made a life member in 1992. He was General Secretary of the New Zealand Indian Central Association 1968-1975. Being proficient in Hindi and Gujurati, he was recognised by the Department of Internal Affairs as Official Interpreter. He was a member of the Lynfield College Board of Governors (1986–88). He represented the Auckland Indian Association on the Auckland Multicultural Society 1984–1990 and was President 1985-1986. He was involved with the Blockhouse Bay Kindergarten, the Bhartiya Mandir (Indian Temple), the New Zealand Gujarati Sports and Cultural Association and the Avondale community. In 1998 he was the recipient of the Avondale Community Board Special Award for community service.[1]
