Career

Sky News

Bracey commenced as a producer at Sky News Australia at age 19 in April 2004[1][2] whilst he was studying a Bachelor of Communications (Journalism) at the University of Newcastle.[3] He also attended the Max Rowley Media Academy.[4] After graduating he joined the Sky News team in a full-time capacity as reporter and anchor.

Bracey has covered the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games and the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games, 2012 London Olympics and 2008 Beijing Olympic Games for Foxtel.[1][5][6] He was awarded Swimming Australia's 2008 Media Award for his coverage.[7]

In January 2013, Bracey was appointed presenter of a new sports show on Sky News Australia titled SportsNight with James Bracey.[8] Bracey was also a regular panellist on The Last Word.

In 2014, Bracey hosted the ASTRA Industry Excellence Awards.[9]

In December 2016, Bracey announced his resignation from Sky News after 13 years, ending his role on 15 December 2016, with his program SportsNight with James Bracey not continuing with a new host following his departure.[10][11]

Nine Network

In December 2016, it was announced that Bracey would join the Nine Network. It was announced that he would host the Nine's rugby league telecast and The Sunday Footy Show. He is also a fill-in sports presenter on Today and Nine News.[12]

Bracey's first appearance on Nine's rugby league telecast was on 10 February 2017, when he hosted the network's coverage of the 2017 All Stars match. He also hosted the 2017 State of Origin series.

Bracey also occasionally hosts the network's netball coverage.

In 2018, Bracey was appointed host of Sports Sunday and Nine's new Monday night show 100% Footy.

He no longer hosts The Sunday Footy Show; he was replaced by Erin Molan.[citation needed]

From 2019, Bracey will host Nine’s tennis coverage including the Australian Open, after the network won the exclusive broadcast rights for 6 years from rival Seven.

Personal life

Bracey lives in the Sydney suburb of Cammeray with his wife Margot, who he married in 2012.[13] Bracey is a life long fan of The North Sydney Bears and is the club's number one season ticket holder.[14]
