James Rondeau
Insert non-formatted text here Script error: No such module "AfC submission catcheck". James Rondeau (born 1970) is an American curator and museum director. Rondeau is the current director of the Art Institute of Chicago.[1]
Biography[edit]
Rondeau holds a B.A. in American Civilization from Middlebury College and an M.A. in the History of Art from Williams College.[2]
Career[edit]
Before joining the Art Institute of Chicago, he was Associate Curator of Contemporary Art at the Wadsworth Atheneum.[2] Rondeau began working at the Art Institute (as Associate Curator of Contemporary Art) in 1998.[3] In 2004, he became the department chair of Contemporary Art at the Art Institute. From 2008-2009, he was also interim Chair and Curator of Photography.
He has organized over 30 solo exhibitions of various artists, as well as numerous large survey exhibitions of artists such as Jeff Wall, Jasper Johns, Cy Twombly, and Roy Liechtenstein, among others.
He also oversaw the largest artwork donation in the Art Institutes history- estimated at $400 million- from Chicago art collectors Stefan Edlis and Gael Neeson.[1]
