James West is the Co-Founder of Alamy and Co-Founder of Videoloft.[1]

West graduated with a degree in geography from the University of Edinburgh.

In 1999, West co-founded Alamy, an online stock photography company.

In 2012, West co-founded Manything, a mobile app with over 1 million users, which turns spare smartphones into DIY home security cameras.[2]

In 2019, Manything became Videoloft, a cloud video surveillance platform for the professional security camera market. [3]

West is also involved in philanthropic causes, notably a non-exec director of The Fischer Family Trust.[4]

In 1999 West co-founded Alamy with Mike Fischer; Alamy is an online stock photography company which grew to have offices in Techno park in Trivandrum, Kerala, India and a sales office in Brooklyn, New York, United States.

James West was the CEO of Alamy between 1999-2017 and between 2018–2020.

PA Media Group acquired Alamy in February 2020.[5]

Manything[edit]

West co-founded Manything alongside Mike Fischer and Tim Pearson of RM plc.

Manything is a mobile app with over 1 million users, which turns spare smartphones into DIY home security cameras.[6][7]

Manything captured several robberies which we reported to the police in real time.[citation needed]

Videoloft[edit]

Manything rebranded to Videoloft in 2019, which now focuses on providing cloud Video Surveillance to the professional security market.[1]

Philanthropy[edit]

West is also known for his efforts to philanthropic causes.

West is a trustee of the Fischer Family Trust, a UK-based non-profit organisation established in 2001 aimed towards educational outcomes of the most vulnerable proportion of students in UK schools.[4]

When West was leading Alamy he also donated around $6 million in profits to charities including the Fischer Family Trust and Medical Research.[8]
