James Tracy Gough, known as Jamie Gough, is a New Zealand businessman and politician who is a Christchurch City Councillor for Fendalton-Waimairi ward.
Personal life[edit]
Born in Christchurch on 13 September 1985, Gough attended Christ's College.[1]
In his early professional career, he worked as Asset and Marketing Manager for Hereford Holdings Ltd, a Christchurch property company, owned by his uncle, Antony Gough.[1]
Gough got engaged to long-term partner Jasmine Gough (née Lange) in 2015 and they married in March 2016.[2]
Political career[edit]
Gough was first elected to the Fendalton-Waimairi Community Board in 2007.[3]
In 2010 Gough was elected as a councillor to the Christchurch City Council[4] and was re-elected in 2013,[5] polling highest in his ward for both elections.
Gough was instrumental in lobbying for a successfully implementing an NZ$10 million fund ensuring a full rebate on Development Contributions for mixed-use developments containing residential within the central city and an NZ$5 million fund for a full rebate on Development Contributions for non-residential development within the central city core.[6]
Business career[edit]
In 2010, Gough was appointed to the board of directors of family business Gough Group,[7] a large Australasian equipment and transport company and holder of New Zealand's Caterpillar dealership since 1932.[8] Although he resigned his place on the Board of Directors in December, 2015, in compliance with a term limits policy for Board members, he retains large holdings in the family corporations.[9]
Gough is a Director of Christchurch City Holdings Ltd (CCHL), Civic Building Ltd, Gough Property Corporation and Gough Corporation Holdings Ltd.[10][unreliable source?]
He has also been a Director of Vbase Ltd and Canterbury Development Corporation Ltd.[citation needed]
In 2015 he purchased an iconic Georgian-revival commercial heritage building on Worcester Boulevard in Christchurch's central city which he plans to restore.[11]
