Career[edit]

Sobisch has published a number of articles in peer reviewed journals and contributed chapters to books about Tibetology, including the teachings of the Sa Skya tradition.[1] Some of his writing is about the difference between Tibetan and western values.[2][3] His works are held in libraries worldwide.[4] He has also studied and written about aspects of Tibetan Buddhism.[5]
In 2014 Sobisch authored a petition against cutbacks to post-secondary education in Denmark which was signed by more than 1,700 educators.[6] In 2016 he himself was laid off when the University of Copenhagen closed its Tibetan Studies department.[7].[8][9]
At about the same time, he won the Humboldt Prize for 2016, a 60,000 euro research grant.[8][10] He conducted research for a book project at the Center for Religious Studies at Ruhr University Bochum.[11]
He maintains a blog on the principle treatise of the founder of the ‘Bri-gung-pa, sKyob-pa ‘Jig-rten-gsum-mgon (1143-1217).
