Jan Anders Nelson (born in Houston, Texas, July 18, 1952) is a software engineer at Microsoft, best known for his inventions related to localization,[1] and his contribution to the Multilingual App Toolkit,[2] a set of free tooling which enables developers to add languages to their apps in a user-friendly manner, integrated to Visual Studio. Nelson is also an artist known for his photorealist paintings depicting industrial settings and automotive wreckage.[3] His art has been exhibited in many galleries across the United States, including recent shows in New York City; Houston;[4] Pacifica, California;[5] Manchester, New Hampshire;[6] Portland, Oregon; Bellingham, Washington; Grand Rapids, Michigan; and Garnett, Kansas. Nelson grew up with musicians / actors for parents.[7][8]
