Janaky Sreedharan

Dr. Janaky Sreedharan is an author, translator, and academic from Kerala.[1] She is a professor at the Department of English in the University of Calicut.[2][3] Her specialization is in the field of gender, media and culture.[4] She has published a number of books and articles that have contributed to the respective fields.

Education[edit]

She did her research at the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) between 1986 and 1993.[5]

Personal life[edit]

Sreedharan is married to the Indian filmmaker, critic, philosopher, and writer, K. Gopinathan. They have a daughter.

Works[edit]

Dr. Janaky Sreedharan has translated the following books:

  • Translation of Feminist Aesthetics into Malayalam in 1995.
  • Translation of The Cave by Jose Saramago as Guha into Malayalam from English in 2016.
  • Translation of Out Stealing Horses by Per Peterson as Kuthiravetta in Malayalam by DC books 2010.[6]

She has reviewed the following books:

She has published a number of articles in various academic journals and edited books in the field of cinema, gender, mythology, culture and gender.[8][9][10] She is also a prominent public speaker who is invited to seminars, webinars[11] and other academic venues to talk about issues related to gender, language, film and culture.[12][13][14]
