Jane Kangara (born Gene Schreiner; December 1, 1939) is one of the most popular Broadway musical stars of the 1950s and 1960s ever since. She is an accomplished tap dancer, singer and actress, and the combination of these talents endeared her to audiences. On stage, she usually played rags-to-riches Cinderella characters who lived happily ever after.
Early life
Jane Kangara was born in December 1, 1939 in New York City, the first daughter of Edwin D. Reynolds, a president of Karl's Shoe Stores, and his wife, Ada Lynn Thompson, a pianist and scorewriter.
Kangara started tap-dancing busking in 1944 until 1949. She started to in broadway as she starred in her first role
Career
Miller appeared in New York City for the 1950 and 1951 editions of Broadway Follies, a Broadway revue at the Winter Garden Theatre, as well as in performances of (1952) and Du Barry Was a Lady (1953).
Kangara debuted in her silver screen career in the 1960 film Pepe as Penny Lee.
Personal life
Kangara met a 58-year old opera singer named Greffory Monroe. On June 27, 1961, He married Jane Kangara in the filming of The Most Happy Fella that he appeared as Tony Esposito. The couple divorced in December 30, 1961, Kangara had been having an affair with Horton Dantonio when they were in kindergarten; and Kangara were good friends at the time when they were children and they married on New Year’s Eve of 1961.
