Janice Griffith (born July 3, 1995) is an American pornographic actress and entrepreneur.[2] She began her pornographic acting career in 2013 and has since received two AVN Award nominations and won the 2019 XBIZ Award for Best Sex Scene - All-Girl.[3]
Early life[edit]
Janice Griffith was born to parents with a history in law enforcement[4] and was raised by them in Queens, New York. In her younger years, she attended a private Catholic school and went to high school in Queens as well as in Long Island, New York, where her biological father was staying at the time.[5]
Griffith's mother is a Muslim and she, Griffith, has stated that she considers herself “culturally Muslim”, even despite facing constant online harassments for her work from Muslims.[6] Ethnically/racially, she has described herself as half-white and half- Indian/half-Indo-Guyanese.[6] She considers the fellow adult performer April O’Neil a close friend of hers.[7]
Career[edit]
Pornographic work[edit]
Griffith entered the adult industry in 2013 after she had just turned eighteen with the intention of doing just a single scene. However, she decided to stay in the industry owing to the pay that it offers and owing to the fact that it involves sex, which she has stated that she loves.[6] Her entry into the industry prompted her to move from New York to Los Angeles, California.[6] As to the choice of her stage name, she picked the name “Janice” from the first name of her best friend and “Griffith” from the name of a waitress that she and the best friend once had dinner with.[4]
In her career so far, Griffith has performed in more than 300 scenes[1] and was nominated for the Best New Starlet category in the 2015 32nd AVN Awards. In addition, a scene in which she starred alongside Bonnie Rotten and Manuel Ferrara in 2014 was nominated for the Best Three-Way Sex Scene – Girl/Girl/Boy category in the same awards. While she was not awarded both of these nominations, she later on in her career won the 2019 XBIZ Award in the category Best Sex Scene - All-Girl, an award that she shared with Ivy Wolfe for their role in a 2018 girl-girl scene.[3]
During the course of her career, Griffith has spoken up for herself whenever she has felt unsafe/uncomfortable on set and has encouraged other female performers, especially new ones, to do the same. She has expressed happiness and contentment with her life in the adult industry.[5] Even so, Griffith has expressed dislike for people sending nudes or sexual material to her as it is not part of her job and because they are non-consensual. In addition, she has expressed disinterest in having sex with fans and is not welcoming of invitations to do so.[6]
Entrepreneurial work[edit]
In 2017, Griffith, together with several other individuals, founded SpankChain, a blockchain-based website and online payment system specializing in offering payment solutions to sex workers in the adult industry.[8]
