Jarred Ellis (born 14 April 1995) is an Australian rules footballer who was recruited by the Gold Coast Football Club.
Early life[edit]
Ellis grew up in Lennox Head, New South Wales and attended St John's College in Lismore, New South Wales. Ellis initially played soccer in his younger years but after a trip to Wagga Wagga had become hooked on Australian rules football and began supporting the Sydney Swans.[1]
Junior football[edit]
Ellis began his junior football at the Ballina Bombers and was given the opportunity to represent a New South Wales junior team but made the switch to the Queensland-based Broadbeach Australian Football Club in 2011. Although Ellis lived in New South Wales (one hour south of the New South Wales-Queensland border), he became eligible to represent Queensland due to playing his club football for Broadbeach. He was subsequently put in the Gold Coast Suns academy as the northern parts of New South Wales fall into their zone. He represented Queensland in the 2013 AFL National Under 18 Championships while competing for the Broadbeach senior side in the 2013 North East Australian Football League season.
AFL career[edit]
Ellis was rookie drafted by Gold Coast with the 63rd pick in the 2014 rookie draft.[2] He was delisted by Gold Coast at the conclusion of the 2015 season.[3]
