Jasmine Shimoda is an American chef.

Early life[edit]

Jasmin Shimoda was born in Santa Barbara, California, to Erin Davidson and Michio Shimoda.[1] Growing up in Santa Barbara, Shimoda's childhood household was included both vegetarian and macrobiotic diets.[2]

Career[edit]

Shimoda worked in New York City restaurants Happy Ending where she was the executive chef who replaced Francis Gabarrus,[3][4] Degustation, and John Dory.[5] She returned to California in 2016 to lead the restaurant at wellness destination in Los Angeles called Springs LA.[2][6]

She co-owned a Los Angeles vegan restaurant called Jewel, with her ex-wife Sharky McGee.[7][8] She has appeared on Chopped.[citation needed]

Shimoda is a proponent of cooking with cannabis.[9]

Personal life[edit]

Shimoda is a yogi who practices daily,[5] and in 2016 an article in the New York Times covered her ideas about how to eat like a yogi chef.[2]
