Jason Rising is a 2021 Friday the 13th fan film starring Dan Kyle as Jason Voorhees and Kyle Vahan as Officer Pete Daltry. The film was released on August 14, 2021, on YouTube.[2] As of June 2024, the uncensored version has received over 765,000 views, while the censored version has 148,000 views.

Synopsis

As the official synopsis stated, "JASON RISING - A FRIDAY THE 13th FAN FILM is a story about Officer Pete Daltry on the hunt for a fugitive on the run after escaping from the Wessex County corrections farm and headed in the direction of Camp Crystal Lake. He is accompanied by two agents from the fugitive recovery team but when they enter the hollowed grounds of the camp they find out they are the hunted."[3]

Adrienne King and Amy Steel have a cameo in the film, reprising their roles as Alice Hardy and Ginny Field from the Friday the 13th franchise.[4][5]

Production

Funding

The crowdfunding site, Indiegogo, was utilized to earn funding for the project. By the time the crowdfunding closed, the project garnered over $4,276 US dollars from 56 backers.[3]

Filming

Due to the nature of the film's story, most of the film's scenes were shot at night and in Oregon wilderness,[6] with a $25,000 budget.[1]

Reception

Jeff Turner of Action Reloaded said the film "delivers everything you could hope for, filled with gory kills, a punch the air cameo at the end and a Jason that doesn’t half scare the shit out of you."[7] Tony Northrup of Through the Black Hole said the film "had that feeling of the first two films in the franchise. That gritty, early 80′s feel to it."[8]
