Club career[edit]

Lota Schwager[edit]

Serafini made his debut for Lota on 30 January 2010 in a 0–0 away draw with Naval for the first week of the Primera B de Chile, where he received a yellow card.[7] During that season, he made 29 appearances in the 38 matches that Lota played between the regular phase (24 games) and promotion playoffs (14 matches). Likewise, of his 29 appearances, he was a starter in 28 times[8] receiving eight yellow cards[8] and one red card on 25 April[8] during an away match against Deportes Concepción which Lota lost 2–1.[9][8] Several months later, on 21 November, he scored his first goal for Lota in a 3–0 home victory over Deportes Puerto Montt at Federico Schwager Stadium for Promotion playoffs.[10][11][12] He scored again the next week, being the only one score in the 1–0 home win against Deportes Iquique,[13][14][15] match where he was elected by commentators as the man of the match.[16]

On 16 September 2011, uring the 9th matchday of the second level's Torneo Clausura, Seafini was named the man of the match[17] in a 1–1 away draw with Magallanes after having to replace the goalkeeper Germán Sotelo, who was sent-off in the 91th minute.[18][19][20] According Canal del Fútbol (CDF), Serafini decided to play in the goal because his teammates requested him due to Serafini's experience as goalkeeper when they used to play baby football,[18] which he also told to El Sur Newspaper[18] from Chilean city Concepción. Likewise, CDF's analysis pointed that «the task was not easy at all, because Lota was already playing with nine players, due to the previous expulsions of Gustavo Moreno (37') and Patricio Jeria (74'), which caused the constant attacks of Magallanes».[18] On the part of Serafini, he commented:

«I had to cover a difficult ball. They (Magallanes' players) touched it in the area and kicked the far post ... I stretched out and took it out. I saved it better than Sotelo... (laughs)».[18]

On 3 February 2012, it was reported by Radio Bío-Bío that Serafini was considered (by the coach Marcelo Miranda) in the nominee to play the first matchday of the 2012 Torneo Apertura against Unión Temuco (UT).[21] Thus, Serafini participated in his team's 4–0 victory over UT,[22][23] where he played all the 90 minutes[22] at the Ester Roa Rebolledo Stadium.[21]

After didn't scoring a goal during all the last season, Serafini netted his side's score on 2 September 2012 in a 1–0 home win over Unión Temuco.[24][25]

Towards the 2013 season, Serafini was one of few players in remaining at the team.[26] His official season's debut was marked by the 0–1 Lota's home defeat against Naval de Talcahuano,[27] match where he wasn't a started and where he received a yellow card[28] minutes after he came off the bench in the 61th minute[28] by orders of the coach Nelson Cossio, who decided that Serafini should replace in the field to Mauricio Lagos.[28]

Style of play[edit]

He had said feeling inspired by Enrique Vera,[1] a Paraguayan midfielder and international[29] who won the 2008 Copa Libertadores playing with Liga Deportiva Universitaria de Quito.[30]
