Park Jong-seong (Hangul: 박종성; born April 20, 2002), known professionally as Jay (제이), is an American and South Korean singer, rapper and dancer. He is a member of the boy group Enhypen under Belift Lab.[1]

Early life

Jay was born in Seattle, Washington, on April 20, 2002.[2] When he was 9 years old, he relocated to Korea with his family.[3]

He then went to Hanlim Multi Art School in the Practical Dance Department and graduated in 2022.[4]

He was briefly street-cast by SM Entertainment but did not debut or remain at the company.[5] Later he trained at a dance academy and then at Big Hit Entertainment for about 2 years and 11 months.[6]

Career

In 2020, Jay competed in the survival Mnet's television series I-Land. He ranked second with 1,182,889 votes and was chosen to be a member of Enhypen.[7]

He debuted as a member of ENHYPEN in the group on November 30, 2020 with the release of their EP Border: Day One.[8]

He performs rap, vocals and choreography as a member of Enhypen.[9] He has also received songwriting credits on group tracks.[10] He teamed up with the Japanese rock band Glay in 2024 on the song "whodunit".[11]

Endorsements

In 2023, Jay as part of Enhypen were announced as brand ambassadors for the Italian fashion brand Prada.[12] He was also part in many related campaigns and was also present in some fashion week events.[13]

Philanthropy

Jay has helped out on solo/group charity event. Fans held charity drive events in his name as well as his support for UNICEF Philippines.[14] Enhypen as a group have made donations to disasters.[15]
