José René Villafuerte Flores, better known by his stage names Jay Flores and René Flores, is a Costa Rican singer-songwriter and model.

He became known for his single "Falsas Promesas de Amor", which was released, under the former name René Flores.[1]

Early life[edit]

Jay was born January 26, 1997, in Nicoya, Costa Rica. He developed a love for music at a young age. Starting at the age of twelve, he would join his family on stage while entertaining the local crowd and creating a sensation every time. This childhood experience helped shape his musical journey and by the time he was a teenager he was already writing his own music and performing at various events in his hometown.

Career[edit]

Flores started when he was just 15 years old, he became popular by uploading videos to YouTube, where he got the attention of the public, accumulating a large number of followers that made him emerge on social networks.

During 2014, he became known in the singing competitions of his school, where he won 1° place, also as the creation of a Demo CD as a proposal to different producers, achieving the launch of his first single as a soloist "Dónde Estás", produced by Francesco Oliva, Italian producer.

This single was his debut, written by Jay Flores and produced by Francesco, combining Latin rhythm with pop.[2]

The single "Dónde Estás" was released on iTunes on February 5, 2015 and also on the music video platform. Including the visual of the single. This single was played on different national and international radio stations.[3]

In August, 2015, the second single by Jay Flores was released, as the name "Falsas Promesas de Amor".[4] Producing this single, composed by English producer Tom Bailey and as author Jay Flores.[5]

Following the release of their first EP album, their third single "Missing You" is revealed, this time in English, released via Apple Music and Vevo in March 2017. Distributed by SpinnUp by Universal Music Group.[6]

Combined rhythms and melodies, this single has been one of the most successful of him. Getting into the Spinnin Records Talent Pool.[7][8]

During the period of 2018, Jay Flores has released three singles, “Perfect Body”, “Juntos (Al Amanecer)” featuring with Alan Shepard, Costa Rican producer and “All Night Long Remix”, featuring NELSS, Alan Shepard, ISCR and Carlox.[9] All of them released under his old stage name.
