Jayavani (also known as Uma Maheswari Gummadi) is an Indian Telugu film actress and tv serial artist. She gained popularity in 2006 with the film Vikramarkudu directed by S. S. Rajamouli.She mostly does Vamp character's in the films She act. She has also done some films in Kannada and Tamil languages. Having interest in acting she also learnt Kuchipudi.[1]

Early life[edit]

Jayavani belongs to the native place, Macharla, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh. Her father was an employee at BHEL, she was born and brought up in BHEL, Hyderabad. She was always fascinated by films and wanted to be an actress since childhood. She started her acting career in television with the channel DD Telugu. She has acted in some Telugu TV serials, which includes Aloukika, Nagastram and acted in various channels like ETV. Her work was appreciated and directors offered a chance to enter the film industry. She made her film debut with the film February 14th Necklace Road. This film was directed by Srinivas Reddy, where she was offered a very small role as a sweeper.[2]
