Jayden Monserrate
Jayden Monserrate (born July 15, 2000), known professionally as 2jaym, is an Indian singer-songwriter and producer, best known for his breakout hit "Headphones" alongside artist Tsumyoki, which was his first professionally released and distributed original, released in 2019. His debut single "We Could Fall In Love" was released on May 8, 2020, which showcased his emotional songwriting paired with a LoFi Hip-Hop beat which was produced by himself. 2jaym has collaborated with various Indian artists such as Nucleya, Tsumyoki, Elttwo, Kidd Mange, Jaden Maskie, etc. He is most notably known for being a part of the music group "Goa Trap Culture" which released their first album "Daboij[1]" which was a mixed genre project featuring Pop, Rap, Indie pop, R&B and Rock music.
Early Life
Jayden Monserrate was born in Mumbai, India. He spent his early childhood in Mira Road before his family moved to Goa in 2011. He went to St. Britto High School, Mapusa followed by St. Xavier's College, Mapusa, Goa. As a child, he wasn't very interested in music, with his mother making him take piano lessons as well as participate in school singing competitions as she believed he had a really good voice. Eventually, after moving to Goa, he got back into playing the piano and started to love the art, and started making covers of songs and posting them primarily to Instagram. He has no professional background in music apart from a year of piano lessons and considers himself self-taught as he learnt to produce and sing by himself.
Career
2019-2020: Early years and Beginnings He first started writing songs in early 2019 with his first release on April 4, 2019, to SoundCloud titled "Facade". The same year he kept dropping short original tracks to SoundCloud, eventually collaborating with Tsumyoki and dropping his breakout track "Headphones" on September 7, 2019, alongside a music video on the same day.
