Javon Godwin (born March 25, 1990), known professionally as Jaywin, is an American rapper, songwriter and producer.

Career
Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York City, Jaywin comes from a musical family; his father is Jamaican reggae deejay Curry Don[1] and his two brothers are artists, Rohan da Great[1] is a deejay/rapper and Mob Carry is also a rapper.
Jaywin began to pursue his rap career in 2011, dropping out of New York City College of Technology and moving to Raleigh, North Carolina with his brother Rohan[1] where they co-founded their record label, Leaders of the Artistic Revolution Entertainment (LAR Entertainment).
In 2015, the brothers were invited to perform at DJ Dani Deahl’s SMYK tour[1] after Rohan collaborated with the EDM producer on the official SMYK track that charted on Beatport and got a write-up on Billboard[2]. Three years later, Jaywin released his first solo EP entitled The Missing Peace (2018)[1], an exploration of his life and relationship experiences. His tracks drove his popularity and female fan base[3] sparking an EP series with subsequent releases, The Missing Peace Part 2 (2019)[1], The Missing Peace 3 (2021)[4] and his latest installment, The Missing Peace 4[5] (2022) that immediately began charting upon its release on iTunes, peaking at #21 on the R&B and Soul Chart and at #194 on the All Genres Chart.[6]
In 2020, Jaywin executive produced Rohan da Great’s debut EP entitled ‘6 Love’ which hit #6 on Billboard Magazine’s Current Albums Chart, the #9 independent song on Urban Radio in the U.S and also made it to the Top 100 on the Urban Radio charts, peaking at #88. The single also debuted at the #5 spot on both the iTunes Reggae Album Charts and the current Reggae Album Sales Chart.[7]
Two of Jaywin’s singles, Same With It (2020) and You Down (2021), a collaboration with his younger brother MOB Carry landed him on MediaBase's U.S. Urban Radio Music chart[4] peaking at #218 and #178[8] respectively. In 2021, Jaywin released his first full-length independent album, Then & Now (2020). On September 10, 2021, Jaywin collaborated with his other brother Rohan da Great on their single Fallin (2021) produced by DJ Ashani that hit #1 on the iTunes Reggae chart, charted in over 65 countries on Apple Music[9] and was added to Spotify's editorial playlists Worldwide Riddim and Breaking Reggae in over 112 countries.[10]
Most recently, Jaywin was added to LA Weekly magazine's 'Top Talent to Follow in 2022'[11] list, compiled by entertainment executives in collaboration with Verified Hustler Group.

Musical style
Influences
Jaywin’s earliest musical influence was his father, Jamaican reggae artist Curry Don[1]. Jaywin is a Brooklyn-bred rapper who is influenced by his environment like popular emcees Notorious B.I.G., Jay-Z and Fabolous. He admits, " I grew up around the east Flatbush, Brownsville area most of my childhood. Till this day Brooklyn still has an influence on me, with the way I talk, dress, just my whole demeanor."[1] His style described by JackThriller.com "...encompasses the dexterity of a street hustler coupled with the presence of a sure fire artist whenever he touches a stage. The women flock to his Alpha Male tendencies and the fellas just want to stand in his light."[3] On the business side, Jaywin is the CEO of his own independent record label, Double Krown Entertainment and admits that Diddy is a major influence for him, “My earliest memory of hip-hop is Puff Daddy & The Bad Boy Family. I always liked how Diddy had the passion to do more than just music and that’s something I strive for.”[1]
Rapping Technique
Jaywin's niche is making music for women which is highlighted by his popular EP series, The Missing Peace Part 1, 2, 3 & 4 that were all released on Valentine's Day.[9] Known for his versatility,[1] [3]Jaywin says, "I want listeners to hear my story, understand my lyrics and where I come from when I write these lyrics and put these compilations together. Music is the way of life and I want to be a part of your mornings, afternoons and evenings. That's why I feel I'm so versatile at times, because I make music for all."[1]
