Jean & Alex are a Latin Urban music duo formed by Jean Solero and Jonathan "Alex" Solero. With titles like “Espiral” and “Que te Vaya Bien”, Jean & Alex have topped Latin Urban charts.[1]
Career
Early Life and Education
The brothers from Bayamón, Puerto Rico, were academically trained at Escuela Ernesto Ramos Antonini (“Libre de Música”) and became vocalists while singing gospel with their father, Carlos Solero.[2]
Solero Brothers
In 2010, Jean and Jonathan began performing under the name Solero. The brothers were known for their Spanish-language covers of popular English songs. In 2011, their cover of Charlie Wilson's Grammy-nominated hit "You Are" led them to be signed by P Music Group. The Solero Brothers then joined Charlie Wilson at the 2012 Essence Festival for a Spanish-English rendition of "You Are". Their performance at the festival out charted Aretha Franklin and D'Angelo in Billboard's ranking for the night's acts.
After relocating to Los Angeles in 2015, Jean and Jonathan launched "Acoustic Fridays" in which the duo posted new acoustic covers of top hits by artists like Rihanna and The Temptations every Friday morning. Solero's covers in Los Angeles came to stand out from other rising Youtube artists due to the brothers arranging and producing their music and filming their videos around the city.[3]
Formation
In 2019, the brothers debuted the single "Viernes 13" under the new name Jean & Alex.
