The Jean Jacket (also known as a Occulonimbus edoequus)[1] is a fictional airborne extraterrestrial species that serves as the main antagonist of the neo-Western science fiction horror film Nope (2022).[2]

John Dabiri, a Caltech professor, collaborated with Jordan Peele and his filmmaking team on the design of the Jean Jacket, particularly in its UFO form.[3] Its final true "biblical angel" form, which was inspired by those of Neon Genesis Evangelion and invertebrate aquatic locomotion among sea creatures such as jellyfish, octopuses, and squid, to imagine a hypothetical undiscovered previously extinct sky predator, realistically imagining "how could something like this hide in the clouds", with its ability to "generate electric field" taken from electric eels and ghost knifefish, allowing for electric propulsion ("Jean Jacket's fast flying without wings/sails").[4][5][6]
