Jeannie Evans (née Young; born June 18, 1970) is an American antitrust attorney and Republican candidate for the United States Senate from Illinois in the 2026 election.[1]

Background

Evans was born in Los Angeles and raised in Altadena and San Marino, California. She graduated summa cum laude from Brigham Young University with a degree in Political Science (1994) and earned her Juris Doctor cum laude from Harvard Law School (1997), where she served as Executive Editor of the Harvard Journal of Law and Public Policy.[2]

Legal career

Evans began her career clerking for Judge Alex Kozinski of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and later Judge Susan Illston of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.[2] She worked as an associate at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati (1998–2004), then at Kirkland & Ellis LLP (2010–), before co-founding Agrawal Evans LLP. She is currently a partner at Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro LLP.[2]

As a plaintiffs' antitrust attorney, Evans has represented consumers and small businesses in major cases, including the real estate commission litigation against the National Association of Realtors (resulting in over $1 billion in settlements) and the Broiler Chicken antitrust litigation (recovering over $200 million).[2] She received the Antitrust Enforcement Award from the American Antitrust Institute in 2024.[3]

2026 Senate campaign

Evans announced her candidacy on December 10, 2024,[4] for the seat being vacated by retiring Senator Dick Durbin. Her platform emphasizes reducing taxes and regulations, addressing crime, and expanding education and job opportunities.[1]

Personal life

Evans married James Evans, a professor at the University of Chicago, in 1993.[5] They have four children and have resided in Hyde Park, Chicago, for over two decades.[5] Since 2016, they have served as Resident Deans for the University of Chicago's Campus North Residential Commons.[6] Evans is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.[5]
