Jeff Hussey
Jeff Hussey is an American inventor, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. He is co-founder, president and CEO at Seattle-based network security firm, Tempered Networks, and was a pioneer in the development of the application delivery controller and founder of F5 Networks.
Early life and education[edit]
Jeff Hussey was born in the early 1960’s in Washington state. He graduated from Seattle Pacific University in 1983 with a bachelor’s degree in finance.[1] In 2017, he was named Seattle Pacific University Alumnus of the Year.[1] He received an M.B.A. from the University of Washington in 1991.[2]

Hussey’s early career in financial services after earning his MBA included serving as the President of Pacific Comlink starting in 1993, and then working at investment banking firm Alexander Hutton.[2][3]
In 1996, he started F5 Networks [1], a $2+ Billion revenue software company in 2020.[4] F5 went public in 1998, opening at $8 a share and rising to $70 by the end of 1999 as business grew steadily.[5] Hussey was Chairman of the Board and CEO until 2000. [6] He hired John McAdam as CEO in mid 2000 and stepped aside from his leadership role.[5] Following F5, Hussey went to Lockdown Networks, which was acquired in 2008 by the cybersecurity company McAfee for $2 million.[5]
In 2014, Hussey joined some former Boeing engineers who had developed the Host Identity Protocol (HIP)[7] for secure networking to form the Seattle-based startup Tempered Networks.[5] He is listed in the first half of 2021 as the current President, Co-Founder and CEO at Tempered.[8]
He is also the chairman of the board for Carena and chairman and co-owner of Ecofiltro, a Guatemalan ceramic water filter business.[5] that brings clean water to 1 million rural families in Guatemala[1]. He created PuraVidaCreateGood, a fair-trade, organic coffee roaster in Seattle[5][9] that through fair trade practices and donations improves the lives of hundreds of thousands living and working in the coffee-growing regions of Guatemala.[1] Hussey also serves on the board for Webaroo and the Seattle Symphony.[9]
