Jeffrey Richard Kunkel (born March 11, 1983) is an American former professional baseball catcher. He currently serves as the bullpen catcher for the Detroit Tigers.
Kunkel attended Oak Forest High School and the University of Michigan, where he played college baseball for the Michigan Wolverines baseball team.[1] The Tigers selected Kunkel in the 37th round of the 2005 Major League Baseball Draft. He played in minor league baseball for the Tigers organization, when the Tigers offered him the position of bullpen catcher prior to the 2012 season.[2]
Kunkel's twin sister, Heather, played softball at the University of Missouri.[1]
