Jeff Rowe (born 1973)[1] is an American businessman and Chief Executive Officer of the Syngenta Group,[2] an agriculture company.[3] Previously, Rowe was responsible for Syngenta Group's crop protection and seeds businesses.[4]
Early Life[edit]
Rowe was born in the United States in 1973 and grew up on his family farm in northern Illinois.[5] His family has been farming for generations.[6]
Rowe studied agricultural economics and molecular biology at Iowa State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1995. He went on to study law at Drake Law School and holds a Juris Doctorate. He also completed a Global Executive MBA from the London School of Economics and Political Science and the New York University Stern School of Business.[7]
Career[edit]
Rowe began his career in 1995 as a grain merchandiser at Cargill. In the same year, he moved to the seeds trader Pioneer,[8] which was later taken over by DuPont. In 2001, he moved to the legal department of Pioneer, where he worked as corporate counsel. In 2008, Jeff Rowe was appointed Vice President. From June 2011, Rowe led the European business of DuPont Pioneer.[8] In 2015, he also became a member of the group's leadership team.
In 2016, Rowe joined Syngenta, an agriculture company. Initially, he was responsible for the global seeds businesses. He reorganized the division and led it back to profitability.[9] In 2022, Rowe took over the management of the crop protection business unit.[10]
January 2024, Rowe succeeded Erik Fyrwald as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Syngenta Group.[11]
Personal Life[edit]
Rowe is married, has four children and has lived with his family in Basel (Switzerland) since 2022.[8]
