He has worked on Gold, Platinum, Grammy,[2] Billboard charting and projects for artists such as Rick Springfield,[3] The Allman Brothers Band[4], B.J. Thomas, Nick Gilder, Charice, Boyz to Men, David Cassidy, George Clinton, Paula Abdul, Prince, Kevin Raleigh, JAYA, Donna Cruz, Amanda Cole, Jules Shear, Hiroshima, Michael Peterson and Stephen Bishop.[5] Silverman also engineered on the Emmy Nominated MISTS OF AVALON, with Palette Records’ artist, Aeone.[6][7]
He now works and resides in Mt. Juliet / Nashville, TN with his wife, artist, singer and songwriter, Debra Lyn.[8][2] Silverman is founder, owner and operator of Palette Music • Studio • Productions (MSP), Virtual Studio Network (VSN), and Co-Founder of Palette Records with Debra Lyn.
Music career[edit]
After traveling and touring around the US with several different bands including his own, Silverman arrived in Los Angeles in 1976 and was hired by Rick Springfield as his lead guitarist / background vocalist for his US tour for the Wait for Night album. He was then signed to his first production contract as a singer / songwriter / artist by Rick’s production company, Carman Productions, owned and operated by Sound City Studio owners and founders, Joe Gottfried and Tom Skeeter.
Silverman spent several years recording and developing his artist career while partnering with co-producer / engineer, Bill Drescher, in Sound City Studios. During this time, Silverman was a session guitarist / vocalist and toured as lead guitar player with acts such as Redbone[9] and Roger Miller. He also continued to write, record, perform, and produce songs with Rick Springfield and many other artists. The Springfield/Silverman collaboration and their culmination of songs and recordings that they wrote and produced together, eventually became their first co-artist release on Frontiers Records in 2010 entitled From The Vault (A collection of Works by Rick Springfield and Jeff Silverman).[10][11][3]
In 1988, Silverman was signed to Motown’s publishing company, Stone Diamond Music, by music industry icon, Lester Sill. This connection led to an introduction and work with Berry Gordy and his sons, Rodney and Kerry Gordy. Kerry worked as VP of A&R and artist development at Paisley Park (a joint venture between Time-Warner and “Prince”). Kerry also served as Vice President of A&R for Warner Bros. Records Black Music Division. This connection led to Silverman working on many of Kerry’s projects such as Prince, Stepchild, Belize, Eljai, George Clinton and Rosie Gaines.[12]
After 30 years residing in Los Angeles, CA, in 2006, Silverman and Lyn moved to Nashville, TN, where he continues to pursue his artistic endeavors.

Palette Music Studio Productions Press Release[edit]
Nashville Producer, Jeff Silverman talks about why he is offering Dolby Atmos / 3D Binaural Immersive Mixing at Palette Music Studio Productions
Jeff Silverman, the founder, owner, and operator of Palette Music Studio Productions (MSP) and Virtual Studio Networks (VSN), has upgraded Palette Studio so that he can now offer Dolby Atmos 7.1.4 immersive mixes to his clients.
Why Dolby Atmos? Jeff comments, "I believe this new delivery and technology will lead to exciting ways for the consumer to experience music in a new way."
The average consumer may not be aware, but major music artists in various genres like Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Elton John, Billy Eilish, and many others are using Dolby Atmos as their choice of audio format for their recordings. Even recordings of yesteryear like the music of Bing Crosby and The Beatles (Abbey Road Anniversary Edition) are being remastered using Dolby Atmos.
Jeff says, "Another HUGE bonus is the Dolby Atmos market is NOT saturated at this time so your chances of standing out from the masses are much greater than we have seen in many years."
There are even Dolby Atmos playlists available on Amazon HD and Tidal HiFi that range from Jazz, R&B, Country, Hip Hop, Pop, and more. Dolby and Universal Music Group have even formed a partnership to remix thousands of songs in the Dolby Atmos format. And Netflix, Apple TV +, and HBO are starting to release their TV series and movies in Dolby Atmos as well.
Why does Jeff choose Dolby Atmos over conventional audio formats? He says, "Dolby has been the industry standard format for film and television for years. The recent merger of Avid and Dolby has now led to the creation of Avid Play, where any artist can now release their Dolby Atmos mixes, as well as all other mixes, worldwide."
New sites like Immersive Audio Album (IAA) are selling Dolby Atmos, 3D Binaural, and 5.1 surround mixes for the consumer. According to their website, "While traditional ‘surround sound’ exists in a horizontal plane around the listener, immersive sound refers to an expanded sonic field that quite literally immerses the listener in a multi-dimensional soundscape," thus taking sound to a whole new level.
Jeff further explains that Dolby Atmos mixing is like experiencing music all around you — top, bottom, sides, front, and back. It is like you are sitting in an invisible dome and hearing sound embrace you like you have never experienced it before. He says, "The Dolby Atmos object mixes are what I call a “one size fits all”, whereby a single audio file is created that adjusts automatically according to the listeners playback system. So, you can pick up any pair of headphones and experience an amazing stereo 3D binaural mix, or stream with smart speakers or other Dolby Atmos compatible sound-bars including an Atmos cinema speaker system."
How beneficial is Dolby Atmos for music creators? Music today has been devalued to the point that it is almost expected to be available for free to stream with no real substantial residual income or performances paid to the artist and songwriters.
The Dolby Atmos 3D surround format brings new and exciting ways for artists to earn more money from their music as it delivers an entirely new audio experience for the consumer. They can listen on headphones in 3D Binaural or Dolby Atmos surround speaker formats such as 7.1.4, up to 34 speakers for home theaters.
Jeff comments, "I believe this new format will yet again allow artists to be able to earn money from their intellectual properties! Although it always comes down to the best song for any scenario, having your songs mixed in this immersive format ahead of time can not only be a bonus for your audience and fanbase, but it can also give you a jump start for licensing your music to film and TV."
COVID UPDATE: Jeff Silverman can stream, record, and work online with you just about anywhere in the world and without your having to leave the comfort and safety of your own home! For more information, please visit Virtual Studio Networks.
