Jenna Marie Bourgeois
Jenna Marie Bourgeois (born October 15, 1969) is an openly transgender American politician and a member of the Democratic Party and is a Congressional Candidate for Missouri's 4th Congressional District in the 2018 mid-term elections.[1] In August 2017, Bourgeois announced her candidacy to run against Rep. Vicky Hartzler (R) - 4th District-MO[2] and was featured on the website Millennial Politics. Bourgeois is a well-known blues musician and was featured on CBC Radio's Airplay in October 2016.[3] In May 2017, Bourgeois became the first transgender judge in the Western Canadian Music Awards and is a member of the Board of Directors for Music Yukon, the Yukon Territory's music organization.[4] Bourgeois is the CEO of Dynamics Intelligence Inc. a global information technology firm that does business in the United States and Canada.
Early life, education, and early career[edit]
Bourgeois was born in Oak Lawn, IL and resides in Lebanon, MO.
Bourgeois spent her early childhood on the South Side of Chicago, IL. Bourgeois attended St. Rita of Cascia High School in Chicago, where she was involved in 33 clubs and organizations and on the wrestling and golf teams. While attending the Northern Illinois University, Bourgeois joined Delta Chi fraternity, graduating in 1993 with a B.S. in Geography. She pursued a subsequent major in Accounting from the Lewis University from 1989 to 1995.
Except for five years spent in public accounting (1993 to 1998), Bourgeois has worked for the last 19 years (1998 to 2017) in the information technology sector as a technology consultant and trainer. Bourgeois holds over 33 industry technical certifications.
Early political career[edit]
2003 Commissioner - Statewide Independent Living Council - Missouri[edit]
In 2003, Bourgeois was appointed as a Commissioner to the Statewide Independent Living Council for the State of Missouri.
2004 Candidate State Representative - Missouri - 12th District[edit]
In 2004, Bourgeois declared her candidacy as a Democrat to represent part of St. Charles County in the Missouri House of Representatives. Bourgeois aborted the race when her spouse discovered that she was transgender.
2006-2007 Town of Wolf River Planning Commission[edit]
In 2006, Bourgeois was appointed to the Town of Wolf River, Wisconsin's Planning Commission.
