Jennifer Chang
Jennifer Chang is a Cuban-American journalist, meteorologist, and former NFL cheerleader. She currently serves as the primetime weather anchor at Univision Orlando, where she delivers forecasts and environmental reporting in Spanish-language media.[1] Chang is a recipient of an Emmy Award, two Telly Awards, and a Premio Paoli for her work in meteorology and broadcast journalism.[2][3]
Cheerleading and entertainment career
Chang became a cheerleader for the Miami Dolphins in 2016 the first ever international NFL team[clarify],[4] and became a team captain in 2019.[5][6][7] She was also featured in a reality TV series produced by TUDN Univision that highlighted the formation of the Dolphins' cheerleading team as the first international NFL team, with auditions held across more than eight countries.[8] The series specially featured Jennifer and her sister Rachel Chang’s journey in joining the team. During her time as a cheerleader, she also served as an anchor for the team's international broadcast show, "Dolphins Internacional," where she presented sports news in Spanish.[9]
She also competed in Univision's reality TV competition, Nuestra Belleza Latina (2021).[10]
Journalism career
Chang was part of the inaugural STEP program at Univision in 2019.[11][12] She also worked as part of Univision’s weather coverage for multiple markets, including Orlando and Tampa.[13]
Chang began her media career in digital platforms such as FIU’s Caplin News,[14] Lemon City Live, and as an anchor for the Dolphins' broadcast show. While at Lemon City Live,[15] She eventually joined Univision Orlando (WVEN-TV), part of TelevisaUnivision, where she became the station's primetime weather anchor, delivering forecasts for both the Orlando and Tampa markets. She is recognized for covering severe weather, hurricane preparedness, and climate topics relevant to Central Florida’s Spanish-speaking communities.[16]
