Jennifer "Jeni" Kubota is an American social neuroscientist and assistant professor in the Departments of Psychological and Brain Sciences and Political Science and International Relations at the University of Delaware.

Kubota received a joint Ph.D. in Social Psychology and Neuroscience from the University of Colorado-Boulder in 2010 under the supervision of Tiffany Ito. She then held a postdoctoral fellowship in social neuroscience at New York University under the supervision of Elizabeth Phelps. She became an assistant professor at the University of Chicago in 2014. In September 2018, she joined the University of Delaware.

Education and career[edit]

Kubota received a joint Ph.D. in Social Psychology and Neuroscience from the University of Colorado-Boulder in 2010 under the supervision of Tiffany Ito. She then held a postdoctoral fellowship in social neuroscience at New York University under the supervision of Elizabeth Phelps. She became an assistant professor at the University of Chicago in 2014. In September 2018, she joined the University of Delaware as assistant professor.[1]

Research[edit]

Kubota is known for studying the neural foundations of racial bias and prejudice reduction.[2][3][4][5] In 2012, Kubota published a comprehensive review of the neuroscience of race.[6] She is also known for her work on intergroup decision-making. For example, she was lead author of a 2013 paper that found that individuals were willing to take a financial hit to punish outgroup members.[7]
