Jennifer (Jeni) Takara Kubota is an American Social Neuroscientist and Associate Professor in the Departments of Psychological and Brain Sciences and Political Science and International Relations at University of Delaware.
Biography[edit]
Kubota received a joint Ph.D. in Social Psychology and Neuroscience from the University of Colorado-Boulder in 2010 under the supervision of Tiffany Ito.[1]. She then held a postdoctoral fellowship in social neuroscience at New York University under the supervision of Elizabeth Phelps [2] with additional mentorship from Mahzarin Banaji [3]. She became an Assistant Professor at the University of Chicago in 2014. Then in September 2018, she joined the University of Delaware and became an Associate Professor in 2022 [4] [5][6]. She was the recipient of a Senior Ford Fellowship Award in 2022 [7].
Research[edit]
Kubota is known for studying the neural foundations of racial bias and prejudice reduction [8] [9] [10] [11] [12] [13][14]. In 2012, Kubota published a comprehensive review of the neuroscience of racial bias [15]. She is also known for her work on intergroup decision-making [16]. For example, she was lead author of a 2013 paper that found that individuals were willing to take a financial hit to punish outgroup members [17]
