Thank you MurielMary for allowing me to continue to work on this piece. I read your comments and the guides and hope the change I made meets what you asked for (if not, I'd like to continue to work on it until it does - I have a strong belief in getting female academics & authors the coverage that male counterparts get). I added the sentence "Most recently Rankin has been covered in..." to the end of the opening paragraph to show that the subject has significant coverage (not just passing mentions) in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject: most are just in the past year, but I could list many many more if not sticking to the most recent (the ones I included for Mensa are older because I picked ones that predated her serving a role for Mensa so that it was back when she was independent of the sources, in order to follow the Wikipedia guidelines). These are mostly cases of reporters and journalists writing about her or citing her as an expert, but I also included some where she wrote the piece for a source independent of her (like a commentary she wrote for the Los Angeles Times to show she's featured that way too). She has many awards and honors (e.g., the American flag was flown over the White House /U.S. Capitol Building in her honor at the request of the Honorable Christopher Cox, U.S. Representative), but I'm nervous about including those because when I included anything favorable (like awards) about her before, someone deleted my whole page because they said it had a flavorable slant. It's hard to indicate someone's coverage and impact without saying anything favorable, and I can't find anything negative published about her to balance out anything positive, so I hope by just stating "Rankin has been covered in" is unbiased about while also meeting your and WIkipedia's request. I'm happy to do anything else that needs to be done and really appreciate you working with me. I'm new to Wikipedia, so I hope this is where I'm supposed to put my reply to your comment. Also, when I hit "resubmit" a window came up that I didn't understand so I hope clicking "Publish changes" was the way to go. Thanks. ~~
