Jeromy Hopgood

Jeromy Hopgood is an American designer for live entertainment, working primarily in scenic design and projection design. In addition to being a designer, he is also a tenured Professor at Eastern Michigan University, where he helped start a multidisciplinary program called Entertainment Design & Technology.[1]. While in graduate school at The University of Arkansas, he served as an Assistant Scenic Designer at the Williamstown Theatre Festival during its Tony-Award-Winning season, assisting designers David Gallo, Allen Moyer, Ralph Funicello, Michael Carnahan, and Neil Patel [2] He is the author of various design and technology books [3], as well as a regular instructor at LDI in Las Vegas. Hopgood has served as the Vice-Commissioner for Education of the Digital Media Commission[4] and teaches master classes on projections, sound, system design / engineering, and QLab in locations across the U.S. His projection design for Dominique Morisseau's Skeleton Crew at People's Light & Theatre Company [5][6] was nominated for the 2018 Barrymore Award for Excellence in Professional Philadelphia Theatre for Outstanding Media Design [7]

A dance production text that bridges the gap between dance artists and designers / technicians who primarily come from the theatre world. It includes topics such as collaboration with choreographers, pre-production planning, different design and technology disciplines, stage management, and theatre and dance terminology.[8][9] This book was listed as a selection in the Book Authority 33 Best Choreography Books of All Time [10] and the Book Authority 21 Best Choreography eBooks of All Time [11]

Hopgood's second edition of the QLab series coincided with the release of the QLab 4 software update[12]. It was a completely revised edition with all new illustrations, photos, and instructions about QLab 4, in specific. Similar to the first edition, it is the only publication on the market for the industry-standard software.[13]
