Mihai Dumitrescu (born November 8, 1984 in Bucharest, Romania), better known by his stage name, JerryCo, is a Romanian rapper from Bucharest, Romania who was signed to Tataee's Legend Audio record label.[1][2]

Biography[edit]

JerryCo was born Mihai Dumitrescu on November 8, 1984 in Bucharest, Romania. He has two older siblings, a brother and a sister and, according to his mother, he earned his first money when he was only a year and a half old singing to guests his parents brought to the house. He started writing lyrics in the second grade and a few years later he started singing well known hit songs during the music classes at his school.[1] Dumitrescu started rapping at age fifteen. Tataee met Dumitrescu after he heard one of the rapper's demo tapes and started manifesting interest in working with him on his newly founded record label, Legend Audio. After giving him praises in a 2004 interview and meeting with the Bucharest-based production duo Agresiv, who at the time also included JerryCo as a songwriter, Tataee signed him to his Legend Audio imprint in 2005.[1]

According to Dumitrescu, his first encounter with Tataee occurred in 2004 after he had sent CDs containing demo tracks to various Romanian record labels and one of these discs reached DJ Swamp, B.U.G. Mafia's DJ at the time who, impressed with Dumitrescu's lyrical ability, passed it on to Tataee, B.U.G. Mafia's producer, who was looking for new artists to sign to his newly founded record label, Legend Audio. The actual signing occurred one year later, in 2005, as Tataee was busy with multiple projects and wanted to make sure JerryCo would commit to hard work before any financial investment was actually made.[1]

Until 2004, together with Vlad Lucan and Mihai "Mitză" Ghidarcea, JerryCo was part of Agresiv, a Bucharest-based production group who, in this formula, released two independent albums and also provided production for Dumitrescu's solo work until his signing with Tataee's Legend Audio in 2005.

Signing with Legend Audio[edit]

After hearing a remix produced by Agresiv for one of Dumitrescu's solo tracks, B.U.G. Mafia's main producer, Tataee invited him to his studio in Bucharest to discuss the business opportunities he could open for the young rapper. As B.U.G. Mafia's anniversary album Viaţa noastră (Vol.1) was still in the works under Tataee's supervision, the paperwork was delayed for a period of time enough for Dumitrescu to start work on a number of self-financed demo tracks so Tataee could make sure his time and money would meet JerryCo's determination for hard work halfway. Dumitrescu was finally signed by Legend Audio in 2005 and started working on his debut album, Orice E Posibil (Anything Is Possible) with Tataee as his main producer and manager. The album's release was repeatedly pushed back for over two and a half years, until April 2010, enough to give JerryCo time to craft an album that would meet Tataee's high expectances.[1]

Discography[edit]

JerryCo started working on his debut album, Orice E Posibil in May, 2005. The whole album was produced by Tataee who was featured on the album's first single, Stai, Eşti În Pericol (Wait, You're In Danger) along with Simona Nae, a Romanian pop singer.[3][4][5][6][7]
