Jesse Kelly, born July 20, 1981, is a political commentator who served in the United States Marine Corps[1] during the Iraq War. He also ran as a Republican for the U.S. House of Representatives in the 8th congressional district of Arizona in the 2010 election. He narrowly lost the election to incumbent Democrat Representative Gabrielle Giffords, and later lost a special election to Democrat Ron Barber[2]. He currently hosts the radio show The Jesse Kelly Show[3][4] and the TV show I'm Right with Jesse Kelly[5]

Early Life

Kelly was born July 20, 1981 in Ohio. His family moved from Ohio to Montana when Kelly was 10.[6]

Military Career

Kelly briefly attended Montana State University and left prior to completion of his first year, instead deciding to join the United States Marine Corps. He served four years from 2000 to 2004 obtaining the rank of Corporal. Kelly saw combat while deployed during Operation Iraqi Freedom as a section leader in the Mortar Section of Weapons Platoon, Alpha Company, 1st Battalion 7th Marines. While in the Individual Ready Reserve (IRR), Kelly obtained the rank of Sergeant.[1]

Post Military Life

Kelly was discharged from the United States Marine Corps in August 2004. He returned to the family business (since moved to Arizona) and attended Pima Community College where he met his wife Aubre.[6]

Political Career

2010 Arizona 8th congressional district election In 2010, Kelly ran for election to represent Arizona's 8th Congressional District. He won in the Republican primary on August 24 and lost in the November 2 general election to Democrat Incumbent Gabrielle Giffords.[2]

In 2011, Kelly ran in the special election for Arizona's 8th Congressional District. He won in the Republican primary on April 17 and lost in the June 12 general election.

Media Career

On June 1st, 2018, Kelly opened the now defunct YouTube channel The Jesse Kelly Brief in an attempt to gain traction in media. This led to him getting a one hour talk radio show on KPRC AM 950 called The Jesse Kelly Show in Houston, Texas, with the help of Houston talk show host Michael Berry. While doing radio, he was offered a TV hosting position on The First.[6]

On April 6th, 2020, Key Networks picked up The Jesse Kelly Show for limited syndication.[7]

In June 2021, Jesse Kelly was picked up by iHeartRadio's syndication company Premiere Networks to replace Buck Sexton's The Buck Sexton Show.[8]

Views

LGBTQIA+

Kelly has on numerous occasions targeted the LGBTQIA+ community. These attacks have included claiming the community is responsible for the rise of Hitler[9] Kelly has also targeted individuals directly by stirring up outrage to force a trans-activist to step down after allegedly receiving death threats against her and her family.[10]

Women in the Military

Kelly has stated his views on women in the US Navy saying "Most of them [women] are already pregnant"[11] He has said the military and police have lowered standards[12] and the military needs "Type A men who want to sit on a throne of Chinese skulls"[13]
