Jesse Root (born November 23, 1989) is an American ice hockey player. He is currently playing with Italian club, HCB South Tyrol in the Austrian Hockey League (EBEL).
Playing career[edit]
Root played four seasons of NCAA Division I hockey with the Yale Bulldogs men's ice hockey team. He set an NCAA record when he scored against Minnesota nine seconds into overtime at the 2013 West Regional, and in his senior year, Root's outstanding play was recognized when he was named to the 2013–14 All-Ivy League First Team.[1]
After spending the 2014–15 season, his first full professional season, within the Texas Stars organization, Root returned to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on July 2, 2015, in agreeing to a one-year deal.[2]
At the completion of the 2015–16 season, having played just 7 games with the Sound Tigers and primarily in the ECHL with the Missouri Mavericks, Root left North America as a free agent to sign a one-year deal with Italian club, HC Bolzano, who compete in Austria on June 21, 2016.[3]
