Jevohn Charles Gentry (born March 10, 1999) is an American dancer, singer, songwriter, and artist, who rose to fame via social media and various dance films, TV shows, and commercials. After finding success with dance, Gentry is now also pursuing music as a singer and songwriter. His first single “Work Of Art” is set to be released on July 4th, 2020.
Early life[edit]
Gentry was born in Federal Way, Washington. He was raised by his mother and stepfather with his two older brothers and a younger sister and brother. His stepbrother passed away in a car accident in 2014. From middle school through high school he trained in ballroom dance at nationally-ranked studio Pacific Ballroom Dance in Auburn, Washington, during which he won multiple national titles and became interested in other forms of dance[1]. During this time he was featured in multiple dance short films. He briefly attended Utah Valley University for dance before leaving to pursue dance full-time. He moved to Los Angeles from Utah in 2019.
Career[edit]
After moving to Los Angeles, Gentry auditioned for Season 15 of the dance reality TV show So You Think You Can Dance, making the top 30[2]. This got him noticed by multiple talent agencies and he signed with Clear Talent Agency for dance in 2019. Since then, he has been featured in commercials for Nike, Footlocker, Sirius XM Radio, Facebook, and American Eagle. He also starred in an episode of the popular YouTube series High School Dance Battle with fellow dancer Kaycee Rice.
Despite a successful dance career, Gentry has now turned to music, recently deciding to focus mainly on singing and songwriting. His first single “Work Of Art” is coming out on July 4th, 2020
Gentry has also amassed a large following on Instagram and TikTok where he posts mainly dance videos, photos from various shoots, and promotes his upcoming musical releases[3]. He is also a partial owner of popular online dance tutorial site, YouDance.com.
