Chen's Game
Chen's game is built around dominance and taking immediate control of the situation with a consistent serve, powerful hitting of the ball, and purposeful quickness. She has great play with both her forehand and backhand swings and, based on her matches, her backhand seems to be getting better as she becomes more experienced in the game. Her return of serve is one to reckon with and she plays using an open stance normally for both her backhand and forehand. She has a quick style of play which is good for offence but also high risk, but she balances it with astute focus on the court. Her play constantly projects focus on balance, great pace, and desire to achieve and be seen like stars such as the Williams sisters. For tough matches she has exceptional comebacks, either reducing her losing scores marginally or coming from down to beat the opponents as the games progress.
Off the courts
Chen has been noted as a fashion icon in China based on her unusual and beautiful outfits that she wears off the court. She indicated that she hopes to play at Wimbledon in the future and sign a huge deal with one of the major fashion and sporting companies such as Nike or Adidas. Her work has placed her to some extent in the midst of advancing social change as an activist and advocate for the environment where she uses social media platforms in China to express and share her views about issues that affect the people, especially in relation to the environment. Her matches have been shown in several videos on YouTube capturing how she is indeed a force not only to reckon with but also to focus on in terms of documenting Chinese tennis history. In addition to being able to speak Mandarin, her native language, Chen is also exposed to English and speaks it fluently and can also engage in other global languages such as French conversationally.
