Jimmy was born on 18 December 1985 to Mohan Sharma and Sushama Sharma in Jalandhar, Punjab. He belongs to a Punjabi Hindu family. Despite his humble background,Jimmy Spent his early years in his home town Ludhiana and done his graduation from Punjabi University says he had dreamed of becoming a model since his school days in Punjab as his friends thought Jimmy had the physique to be one.

After appearing in around 450 punjabi music videos he got a cameo in shahid kapoor starrer movie chance pe dance and then he bagged Marjawan Gurh Khake movie his debut in punjabi cinema after that he got appreciation for his role in Rahe Chardi Kala Punjab Di . And he won most prominent actor award for his performance in Oye Hoye Pyar Ho Gaya.He also seen as a main lead in action based punjabi movie 25 kille .His bollywood projects are Raktdhar and Ek Kahani Julie Ki}}
