JinSoul (also known as Kim Lip & JinSoul) is the seventh single album from South Korean girl group LOOΠΔ's 12-month long pre-debut project. It was released digitally on June 26 and physically on June 28, 2017 by Blockberry Creative and distributed by CJ E&M.[1] It officially introduces member JinSoul and contains two tracks, JinSoul's solo "Singing in the Rain" and a duet with Kim Lip called "Love Letter".
Promotion and release
JinSoul was previously featured in ViVi's "Everyday I Need You" song and Music Video from the single ViVi.[2]
On June 13, 2017, it was announced that JinSoul was the group's seventh member.[3] Her solo Music Video teaser was released on June 20. [4] It was revealed that Kim Lip and JinSoul would release a duet named "Love Letter", and that there would be two physical versions of the single: one named "JinSoul" and the other named "Kim Lip & JinSoul".[5]
On June 26, the music video for "Singing in the Rain" was released. [6]
Songs
As described in the group’s official Facebook page: [7]
"Singing in the Rain" is in the genre of future bass, it fires up speakers with its accelerating tempo like a pulsating heart in excitement. The title of the supporting track 'Love Letter' performed by JinSoul and Kim Lip sounds like a ballad number, but it actually is a track full of groove, created from the clash of the two girls with their unique and distinct styles.
Music video
The video for Singing in the Rain starts with JinSoul arriving at an unknown location on her own wearing a white and blue school uniform, holding a plastic bag with a blue betta inside. She is then seen running amidst the dark in what appears to be a parking lot at night, with a full moon being shown as well. She then arrives at what seems to be an aquarium with several fishtanks, filled with orange goldfish, being seen in rows. Then, in a black and white scene with the blue tones isolated, the betta JinSoul was carrying is shown to be now in a glass jar, and the scene shifts to a fishtank barely filled with water surrounded by plants, with JinSoul sitting inside of it, wearing a blue dress. Afterwards, as JinSoul is shown dropping the betta in one of the goldfish-filled fishtanks, the scene starts to alter between JinSoul putting the fish in the fishtank and JinSoul (wearing the blue dress) floating in the air with bubbles surrounding her face, making it appear as if she's swimming. The fishtank where JinSoul was previously is now being filled with blue smoke. As the scene goes, it alters between images of the betta and JinSoul floating, directly connecting the two as representations of one another.
The Music video also shows several dance scenes, in some of which it is possible to see JinSoul and her backup dancers dancing in the water, in others, it is also possible to see JinSoul dancing on her own in a dark room surrounded by blue lights above what later on is revealed to be a blue circle similar to the red one Kim Lip had in her Music Video. Later in the Music video it is also possible to see JinSoul dancing on her own in the rain wearing her school uniform. In many moments it is possible to notice the usage of filters in the video.
The video ends with JinSoul, again wearing a school uniform, holding a plastic bag with only water in it and soaking.
In a similar fashion to Kim Lip's music video, the screen in the intro turns black with a blue circle in the middle, but it is completely covered, leaving only the group's name on the screen.
